CALL FOR PROPOSALS: qualitative evaluations of the impact of self-help groups on women’s economic and social empowerment in India

3ie is seeking proposals to undertake qualitative SHG evaluations under the following two themes:

• The impact of SHGs and their federations on multi-dimensional measures of women’s empowerment; and
• The role of SHG federations, such as village organisations and cluster-level federations, in determining SHG quality and functioning.

The findings will inform a large-scale, rigorous impact evaluation of the NRLM programme that 3ie is currently undertaking.

The qualitative work should be conducted in any of the 9 states that are included in the impact evaluation: Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
