The Oxfam Pan Africa Programme works with CSOs and their coalitions, the African Union and Governments to popularise, advocate for and implement key international and continental policy standards, pledges and human rights instruments nationally. This post will support Oxfam Pan Africa programme Women Rights Project in managing and coordination of the EU supported project ‘Women Rights for inclusive development in Africa’. The Project manager will be the link between Oxfam and the co-applicants, overseeing all project activities and reports according to donor guidelines.
About the Position
This position involves supporting partners to develop and implement local, regional, and international strategies to secure land and property rights for women; Work closely with other organizations and experts to ensure Programmes work complements and enhances their work. You will Review Information Education and Communication materials, Reports and research papers being produced, as well as write and publicize reports, briefing papers, letters, news releases and submissions to governments, international bodies, the media, and others based on the findings; Carry out research and advocacy on women land rights , Large Scale Land Based Investment.; Effective coordination and collaboration with Co-applicants and partners while responding to partners concerns and queries and overall programme management. You will be required to carry out Gender analysis on land, natural resources and human rights as well as fundraise for the programme.
You will have: To be a successful candidate, you will need a Masters degree in Gender and Women’s Studies, Law, social science or development studies with at least 5 years working experience of high level policy influencing work at national, regional or international levels; You will have demonstrated experience in programme management and coordination of complex programmes; proven experience of working on gender and land rights issues with ability to apply underpinning knowledge in your work. Experience of working with partners and managing multi-country advocacy programmes and use of new media and social media to further advocacy and experience in European Union funded project will be essential. Ability to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies, including strategies targeting the African Union, Regional Economic Communities, multi-national corporations and international financial institutions; Knowledge of international human rights and voluntary guidelines relevant to land acquisitions. Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well and flexibly in a multi-cultural environment. Knowledge of French language will be an added advantage.
