Globally, there is a drive to harness gender mainstreaming and integration practices as a way to promote gender equality, strengthen program implementation, and ultimately impact social and cultural norms in health, social and behavior change (SBC) programs, and other technical areas. This involves making gender perspectives — what women and men do, norms and standards, and the resources and decision-making processes they have access to — more central to programming, policy, research, and advocacy. Yet despite this resolve, there is a struggle with the “how” of integrating and mainstreaming gender into programs and a need to develop a comprehensive approach that can be replicated in other projects.
Join us for an interactive panel discussion focused on our understanding as policymakers, donors, and implementers of the challenges and successes of gender mainstreaming and integration and its impact on social and cultural norms based on experiences from the field. After each of our experts share their experiences working at the nexus of gender and social and cultural norms, we will have time for reflection and discussions on successes, challenges, and best practices. The participatory discussion will identify gaps in gender mainstreaming and integration among ongoing programs and provide next steps and recommendations to address the gaps.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the event will include light refreshments.
