Foundations of Strength: Gender, Protection, and Livelihoods
June 21, 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM EDT
Well-intentioned livelihoods programs can often backfire: by overlooking gender and protection, they endanger the refugee women, girls, men and boys they seek to help. The CLARA tools provide a framework to incorporate gender and protection into livelihoods programs, helping humanitarians create comprehensively safe and inclusive programs.
This webinar will explain how humanitarians can incorporate the CLARA tools into their program design and assessment tools. It will also present findings and lessons learned from a variety of field tests, including Iraq, Nigeria and South Sudan.
Panelists:
• Tenzin Manell, Women's Refugee Commission
• Hajara Mohammed, Mercy Corps
• Jude Powell, Oxfam
• Corrie Sissons, Oxfam
Adolescent Girls and Safer Livelihoods: Getting It Right from the Start
June 22, 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM EDT
Although many humanitarians now know the importance of refugee girls, the next step is learning to design programs that increase their safety, instead of overlooking or endangering them.
This webinar will demonstrate how two field tools can be combined to guide safe livelihoods programming for adolescent girls. It draws from multiple field tests of the I’m Here Approach for Adolescent Girls and the CLARA: Cohort Livelihoods and Risk Analysis Guidance and Tool, including a recent combined pilot with Oxfam in South Sudan.
