Background:
IFAD, FAO and WFP are working to achieve a world with Zero Hunger. To achieve this goal, we are guided by the UN Secretary General’s Zero Hunger Challenge.
Of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 4 offer greater and clearer opportunity for cooperation among the three Rome-based-Agencies:
- SDG# 1: Eradicating extreme poverty and hunger.
- SDG #2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
- SDG #5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
- SDG #17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
The event will showcase examples of the Rome-based Agencies’ work in reducing hunger through women’s empowerment and highlight the positive effect on sustainable development which collaboration between men and women brings.
The event will be highly interactive, and participants will have the opportunity to discuss and identify challenges and new ways forward for women and girls as they move towards achieving gender equality and Zero Hunger.
The Rome-Based Agencies look forward in seeing you for the 2016 International Women’s Day celebration.
