MODERATOR: Shanta Devarajan Chief Economist, Africa Region, World Bank
Mr. Devarajan is the Chief Economist of the World Bank’s Africa Region. Since joining the World Bank in 1991, he has been a Principal Economist and Research Manager for Public Economics in the Development Research Group, and the Chief Economist of the Human Development Network, and of the South Asia Region. He was the Director of the World Development Report 2004, Making Services Work for Poor People. Before 1991, he was on the faculty of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. The author or co-author of over 100 publications, Mr. Devarajan’s research covers public economics, trade policy, natural resources and the environment, and general equilibrium modeling of developing countries.

Jorge Saba Arbache
Senior Economist, Africa Region, World Bank
Mr. Arbache is a Senior Economist in the World Bank's Office of the Chief Economist, Africa Region, where he provides advice and guidance to Region’s staff on economic and sector work. He is the Director of the Africa Region’s flagship publication, Africa Development Indicators, which this year focused on corruption. More recently, Mr. Arbache has been working on a research agenda on growth and their impacts on poverty, the Millennium Development Goals, and governance. He has also been working on issues related to labor markets, demographic changes and the youth in Africa. Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Arbache was professor of economics at the University of Brasilia, economist at the International Labor Organization, and served in the Brazilian Government, including the Presidency of the Republic and Ministry of Labor.

Sudhi Shetty
Director, World Development Report 2012: Development and Gender Equity
Mr. Shetty is one of two Directors in charge of the World Development Report 2012 which focuses on Development and Gender Equity. Prior to this he served as Sector Director of the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management department in the Africa Region. In this capacity, he provided leadership to the World Bank’s support to country-led efforts to assure shared growth in Sub-Saharan Africa, including on the gender dimension. Mr. Shetty's operational expertise builds on his understanding of development issues in the low and middle income countries of Africa and East and South Asia.
Mayra Buvinic
Director, Gender and Development Unit, World Bank
Ms. Buvinic is the Director of the World Bank's Gender and Development Unit. Before joining the World Bank in 2005, she was Chief of the Social Development Division at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the IDB's Special Advisor on Violence Prevention. Ms. Buvinic was also a founding member and President of the International Center for Research on Women. She has published extensively in the areas of poverty and gender, employment promotion, small enterprise development, and reproductive health.
Juliana Oyegun
Director, Diversity Programs, World Bank
Ms. Oyegun was appointed Director of Diversity Programs at the World Bank in 2001. Since then, she has facilitated mainstreaming diversity into the World Bank’s business, human resources planning and management process. Prior to this, Ms. Oyegun served as Special advisor for Gender Equity at the UNHCR in Geneva where she facilitated the promotion of a culture of gender equity and parity.
