AusAID is launching a new Australian Non-Government Organization (NGO) program in Africa, called the Australia Africa Community Engagement Scheme (AACES). In line with AusAID’s Africa program, AACES aims to contribute to measurable outcomes for people in three priority sectors: water and sanitation, women and children’s health, and food security. Partnership Agreements will be developed and will harness the different approaches of NGOs and build on their unique strengths in relation to their long-term experience, capacity and linkages with partner organizations and communities in specific countries. Although funding is restricted to Australian NGOs accredited with AusAID they are also inviting submissions involving consortia. The membership of consortia will not be limited to AusAID accredited NGOs and may include universities, private enterprise, other international organizations etc. However the Applicant ANGO must be an Australian NGO with AusAID accreditation. Application submissions are due on July 19, 2010, 2:00pm Canberra time. More information is available at http://www1.ausaid.gov.au/latestnews/details.aspx?NewsID=131.
